Utair airline plane crash in Tyumen
On April 2, 2012, near Tyumen, the airliner ATR 72 210 of Utair airlines, operating flight UTA120 on the route Tyumen – Surgut, crashed. Of the 43 people on board (39 passengers and 4 crew members), 31 died, 12 survived and were hospitalized. On April 11, one of the victims died, and on April 19, another victim died.
Lawyers from DTK Partners, together with American and French law firms, began representing the interests of relatives of the victims. In 2013, a claim was filed in the French court against the French manufacturer of the ATR 72 aircraft and Utair airline. The French court of first instance refused to consider the claim on its merits due to the court’s lack of jurisdiction. In 2015, DTK Partners lawyers filed an appeal against the decision of the trial court. The French Court of Appeal, in its decision, overturned the decision of the court of first instance and recognized the fact that the French court had jurisdiction to consider the claim against Utair in a French court on the merits.
The trial in the case continues.
