DTK Partrens lawyers, together with a leading American law firm, began to represent the interests of the relatives of the victims. A claim for the liability of the operator was filed to Egyptian curt against Kogalymavia and the insurance company Ingostrakh .
Russian legislation and the existing Russian judicial practice do not provide the possibility of recovering for the relatives of the deceased passengers fair compensation, therefore filing a lawsuit in the Egyptian court was due to the need to withdraw the case outside of Russian jurisdiction, and submission of the dispute to the jurisdiction of Egypt.
The Egyptian court will consider the case on the basis of Egyptian law, which allows to recover more compensation from the defendants.
Individual lawsuits were filed to the Egyptian court for each victim for a total amount of $ 90 million. The court accepted the statements of claim and scheduled a hearing for November 6, 2017.
